Workout six
🔥Behavioural campfire
No memory deck this week, but I have shared the behavioural quiz with small annotations about the relevance to our session.
Thanks for coming along for the last four weeks. I’ve enjoyed sharing the ideas with you and I do hope you’ll find some useful in your projects going forward. 👍
Extras we mentioned…
Technical jargon on overdrive
An example of how jargon is fine when used between experts, but is baffling to non-experts. Is this how financial advisers sound to clients?
The Monty Hall problem
A quick explanation of the reason why changing doors in the Monty Hall problem is the better choice. Our lesson is that we really struggle to intuitively feel this point, even when we know the maths behind it. Our intuition is far from perfect.
Spent: Sex, evolution, and consumer behaviour
A facinating tour of consumer behaviour and purchase decisions from the perspective of evolutionary psychology. Miller is not afraid to be upfront and doesn’t hold back on his distain of market research and pseudo-science.

How many test users in a usability study?
A useful ready when stakeholders suggest that researching with low numbers is invalid. When it comes to human behaviour, the insight to number ratio isn't exponential. It normally plateaus rather quickly once you get a good cross-section.
